Strike a pose

You know how all the high school girls post pictures on Facebook and Instagram of them looking "cute" and "cool" when really, they look ridiculous???  Either they look like they are trying to be older, or more individual, or more ghetto, but they always just look stupid.

Apparently, that phase isn't limited to surly teens.  I present... the Duck face.

Followed by the random gang sign (also known as Sam making an "A" with her fingers)...

Somehow, the crown and laundry behind them doesn't scream "Street Cred" to me.

All in a day's work in the hood.

Addi, Let your hair down??

This morning the girls wanted to play outside and since it is finally not -10 degrees, we happily agreed. Even though they were dressed in fancy clothes, as long as they had on their coats we didn't really care what they did.

After about 10 minutes I stuck my head out back to check on them and saw my black and white scarf on the ground. I went onto the patio to pick it up and when I turned around, this is what I saw:

I really hope she was pretending to be Repunzel... Versus trying to scale down the wall. Either way, she got in trouble and my scarves were put away.

On this episode of "Hoarders"

I have grown to love shows like "American Pickers" and "Hoarders" - basically shows that always make you feel better about your own home.  You always turn off the TV thinking, "Wow.  At least MY family isn't THAT strange!"

Well, Samantha could possibly be on one of those shows.  Her room is usually really clean (unlike Addi's or the basement) but she likes her belongings to be just right.  She also really, REALLY enjoys cutting paper, or material, or napkins, or boxes, or anything else she can get her crafty little hands on, and is constantly making stuff for her "friends."

Recently I went in her room and was told that her students were all having nap time.  Notice the blankets in perfect lines and her friends all in a row.

Compared to the nap centers of years past, these at least don't look like tiny little morgues like back in the day.

Outside of the nap area were all of my Tupperware containers and seven Mickey Mouse Happy Birthday cups, all filled with squares of paper.  When I had the audacity to suggest we maybe move the containers to the kitchen, I was quickly reprimanded and informed that was NOT to happen.  Not at this school.  The kids NEED fresh paper food for lunch and it must be kept in these containers.  When I said I really needed those back she encouraged me to literally think outside of the box and perhaps use a Ziplock instead of these.

Considering almost every other room in the house is a total disaster, I really should embrace her desire for order.  Or maybe just buy her a set of Tupperware so I can at least put away my leftovers.

Once upon a time... I had a blog....

I do believe this is the longest I've ever gone without blogging.  Don't think I just left with no regard for you, my two humble readers.  I just haven't had the time to muster up the energy to get here.

Well, I'm back!  I have a long list of semi-funny things to litter this blog with, little free time to write, and a to-do list eight miles long, but I do miss it so I'll do my best.

(Oh, for what it's worth since I'm likely not going to get around to my awesome New Year's resolution blog, that IS my resolution... to do my best at everything.  Parenting.... Wife... Work....  It ain't much, but it's something!)

So, Patty and Beth, you may ask what I could possibly be doing that takes up my time these days?  Well, since I just checked into my hotel room (and thanks to Beth, checked for bedbugs) and have 30 minutes until our group dinner, here's our long weekend in pictures.  Enjoy... It was a doozy.

I did some laundry.  I know... riveting.

We took a bunch of naps and sat around, feeling feverish.  No pictures were taken.  Because I was also sleeping.

We ran some errands and picked out stain for my dad's new cabinets.  Take a guess as to what we'll be doing next weekend.  English Chestnut, if you please.

And we visited some baby goats at one of my dad's friend's farm.  Too.  Freakin'.  Cute.

We registered two girls for the 2013-14 school year.  We'll have one second grader and one kindergartner.

And then I sat and cried at how fast time goes by.  Seriously??? Second grade and kindergarten???

Finally, I made dinner for the girls and I while Jay led a meeting on fish fry's for Lent at church.  We sure love cereal.

That's all.  Not exciting but it's done.  I tried my best!
