# 11 and 12

When I wrote my list of things to do this year, I added #11 (take a weekend trip with Jay)  with the hopes of maybe leaving the kids and heading to northern illinois for a quick getaway.

Lucky us... That is not the case. Instead, we are en route to Runaway Bay Jamaica for five days of all inclusive, adults-only relaxation and fun!!

Assuming there are no flight delays, in a little over five hours Jay, Mitch, Mindy and I will be relaxing, Red Stripe in hand, with our kids safely stowed at Grandmas.

Oh and I knocked #12 off my list too... Buy a swimsuit.  Don't expect a blog about that.

I'm enjoying this list thing quite a bit.

19. Have a date with just Sam and I

Yesterday was a really up and down day for Addi. She cried herself to sleep on Fathers Day (another post entirely) then got woken up during nap time at school to go get a cavity filled.  To make up for that Jay took her to see Mr. Poppers penguins on a daddy/Addi date.  Lucky girl.

To top that off, she was invited to her friend Jill's house to play. As she walked out the door Sam realized she was being left behind and started to cry.  Poor kid... I instantly had a vision of Lee doing the same thing when we were kids and felt sad for her.

Because ice cream cures all, Sam and I set off on an impromptu date. And it was a good one too. We talked politics, favorite colors, and as we walked out the door to head home she presented me (quite formerly I must add) with her most prized possession of the hour... A booger.

I love you Sam!

Home decor

I asked Sam to pick out some undies to wear to school. When I came back in the room I had the pleasure of seeing her decorating skills.
I asked her what she did and she said, "I picked out undies for the whole week."  Of course she did. Makes perfect sense.

Does it mean I've lost my mind that for a second I thought, that kind of looks cute?

A full house

A few weeks ago, our house filled up when my dad (aka Pop Pop) came for a long overdue visit.  We had a great visit, including a baseball game complete with Mickey Mouse and some super freaky clouds.
Too quickly he left.  We miss you Pop Pop!

Just a month or two after the fact

Yes, Easter happened.  I just haven't had time to acknowledge it!

The girls spent time with cousins, found some eggs, and had a great day.

Hopefully this is the end of my blogging slump.

Summer is HERE

We are all excited to see it arrive.  And especially excited to taste it.

Cozy

I'm pretty sure I would not sleep well if I had my head under a pillow or someone's leg over my shoulder.

At least they don't mind.

The end of an era

After months of dancing, singing "Spunky the Monkey," and several pairs of tap and ballet shoes, the weekend we have been waiting for finally arrived.  I put on my best stage mom face, slathered some makeup on the girl, and 3,000 of our closest friends met us at the Peoria Civic Center for Addison and Jill's dance recital.

I have to admit, as much as it pained me to sit through an entire rehearsal and show, it was totally worth it.  Addi and Jill had a blast and we were all so, so proud of them.

I just hope this really IS the end of an era.  I'm not cut out to be a stage mom. ;)

32. Clean out all four bedroom closets in my house.

This could be the world's most boring blog post.  But, four bedroom closets (and one coat closet, bonus!), three bags of clothes for Goodwill, and one call to poison control when Sam drank straight from the Tylenol bottle, and #32 is off my list.

And, I do have to admit that although boring, this was one of the highlights of my weekend.
