1, 2, 3, 5... OH MY

One day last week, I was rocking Sam in the glider and Addi wanted to hold her hand. It’s a super sweet thing she does these days – she constantly wants Sam to sit beside her and hold hands. It usually leads to me yelling, “Stop! You can’t pick Sam up!” or “Stop! You can’t lay on top of Sam!” or the newest phrase, “Stop! Don’t bite Sam!” but for those brief few minutes, it will melt your heart.

Kind of like this...

... and this...
... and this...
... and even this...
I told Addi that I really liked her and Sam being friends and I hoped that when they were grown ups they would get along just as well. Addi said “Yup, and I be friends with the babies too.” I said, “Um what babies?” and she said, “We have more babies. I want more babies.”

Brief interruption here: To understand the rest of the story, you have to know that we tell Addi the reason she can’t feed Sam crackers, gum, dog food, etc. is because only I can feed Sam milk, since she has no teeth. This seems to work and on many occasions she informs us that Sam can’t do X, Y or Z because she is toothless. We might be screwed when those darn teeth come in, but that's another blog entirely. Back to the story…

I sent her straight outside to Jay so she could tell HIM what she wanted. There she said, “Daddy I want a baby. 1, 2, 3, 5 more babies.” I couldn’t see Jay’s face but I’m assuming he looked a bit shocked. He said, “Addi, I can’t feed five more babies. That’s too many,” and she said, “No Daddy, Mommy feed them because they won’t have teeth. It's OK.”

If only feeding five additional children was that simple. Sweet, yes. But SO not happening.
